Is ShortsAI free?
Yes. ShortsAI is completely free: no paid plans, no watermark, no usage cap, no account. You only pay for the AI APIs you use under your own keys, and the required one, Google Gemini, has a free tier. The site is supported by ads. There is no metering anywhere in it.
How does ShortsAI work?
faster-whisper transcribes the video with word-level timestamps, PySceneDetect finds the scene boundaries, and Google Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite scores the transcript to pick the 3 to 15 strongest moments of 15 to 60 seconds each. Each moment is then cut with FFmpeg and reframed to 9:16 with MediaPipe face tracking. Subtitles are generated from the same word-level transcript and burned in with FFmpeg. For the AI Shorts tool, the AI writes a script from a product description or URL, generates a lip-synced actor with a voiceover, and adds b-roll, subtitles and a hook overlay.

ShortsAI supports direct one-click publishing to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts via the Upload-Post API. Source video can be uploaded as a file or ingested from a YouTube link. Output is vertical 9:16 video ready for every short-form platform.
Does ShortsAI add watermarks?
No. ShortsAI never adds watermarks to your videos. There is no watermark code in it at all, and there is no paid plan whose job would be to remove one.
Do I need an account?
